The Karder Hub

We are delighted to introduce The Karder Hub, a specialised education provision based in St Columb Major, Cornwall, designed for pupils from Reception age to the end of Year 2 with social and communication difficulties, high sensory needs, and, in some cases, a diagnosis of Autism. Our mission is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
At The Karder Hub, we offer a provision tailored to meet the unique needs of our pupils. From calming sensory rooms and interactive play spaces to structured learning zones, our environment is designed to provide safety, stimulation, and opportunities for growth. Each space is carefully crafted to help children regulate their emotions, build their communication, nurture relationships, confidence, and develop essential skills.
Our curriculum is just as thoughtfully developed, blending the Early Years Foundation Stage framework with personalised learning approaches based on individual pupils' needs outlined in their EHCPs. We emphasise the need for a holistic total communication approach, incorporating evidence-based speech and language interventions, Makaton and low tech AAC to support language development.
In addition to communication, we focus on fostering meaningful social relationships with both staff and peers. Through structured play, small group activities, and guided interactions, pupils are supported in developing the social skills needed to build friendships, collaborate, and navigate social settings with confidence. Our staff are trained to model positive interactions and provide consistent, nurturing support to help children develop trust and a sense of belonging.
We also prioritise physical development as a key aspect of our provision. Interventions such as ‘Move to Learn’ are integrated into our curriculum to support motor skills, coordination, and body awareness. These activities not only enhance physical development but also play a vital role in regulating sensory needs and improving concentration and engagement in learning. By addressing all areas of development, we ensure a well-rounded, supportive, and engaging experience for every child at The Karder Hub.
