About Bosvena School

Bosvena is part of the Special Partnership Trust, an extraordinary education Trust who are redefining Special Educational Needs in the Southwest. Our mission is clear: to be a force for good in SEN and make a positive difference to people's lives. We challenge conventions, pioneer excellence, and work tirelessly to create better tomorrows for our young people and their families.

The Special Partnership Trust’s intent is to provide an outstanding special school for pupils with SEMH needs; a school which celebrates neurodiversity by accepting, respecting, recognising and responding to developmental differences and thereby shaping the pupil’s educational offer to inform and improve their outcomes.

Bosvena School will be research focused, innovative and aspirational in its practice where the development of pupils’ SEMH skills are at the centre of our work.

The school will cater for 65 pupils who are aged 4 to 16 and will serve the community of Cornwall.

Bosvena is close to Bodmin with easy access to the A30/A38. The school is due to open in September 2025 and the building works are progressing well.

About the Role:

We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by creating a nurturing and structured environment where every child can thrive.

As an HLTA, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide high-quality support for students with SEMH and ASD, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. You will support small groups and individuals, providing tailored interventions, and contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons that meet the needs of each student.

Your role will also involve supporting the development of social, emotional, and academic skills, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to individual and small groups of students with SEMH and ASD.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, ensuring they are differentiated to meet individual needs.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Implement strategies to support students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, helping to build their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support students during unstructured times (e.g., break and lunchtime) to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with the wider school team, including SENCO, teachers, and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

What we are looking for:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH and ASD.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and how to support students with SEMH and ASD.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience in supporting the planning and delivery of lessons, interventions, and activities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Our Total Reward Offer:

We recognise that our total reward offer, has got to consist of more than just money. We seek to provide our staff with a diverse range of benefits that support their day to day needs both at work and outside of work. These include generous leave entitlements and pension scheme as well as access to health/wellbeing tools, training & development, career pathways and opportunities to ensure they feel valued.
